The Multiverse Saga is here.

As Marvel’s Phase 4 comes to an end with the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, so begins the next stage of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox in 2019, Marvel gained the rights to Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and the Fantastic Four —all of whom will have upcoming projects in Phases 5 and 6.The studio also picked up Daredevil (Charlie Cox) after reclaiming the character rights from Netflix.

The Marvels — assemble! Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani) and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) are unexpectedly drawn into each other’s lives — literally — in The Marvels.

The film will pick up after the events of Ms. Marvel‘s post-credits scene, in which Kamala unexpectedly switches places with Captain Marvel. Due to the similar nature of their cosmic powers, the three main characters search for a way to put a stop to the connection between them, as they continue to accidentally swap places every time they use their powers. Directed by Nia DaCosta, the film will also feature Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), who has a close friendship with Captain Marvel.

Marvel makes history with Echo, its first title headlined by a deaf character and actress. It’s also the first MCU project lead by an actor of indigenous descent, with Alaqua Cox starring as Echo, also known as Maya Lopez.

Maya was first introduced in Hawkeye, where she appeared as the leader of criminal organization, the Tracksuit Mafia. Upon learning that Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) was not the one behind her father’s death, she left the Tracksuit Mafia to take her revenge on Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio).

Created by Marion Dayre, Echo will follow Maya as she returns to her hometown in Oklahoma to come to terms with her past and reconnect with her Native American roots. Sydney Freeland and Catriona McKenzie will direct.

With Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, Marvel acquired the rights to Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool, along with the X-Men. As of now, Deadpool 3 marks the character’s entry into the MCU, a debut that will also mark the studio’s first R-rated film.

Hugh Jackman will also reprise his role as Logan, or Wolverine, a character that he previously played in the X-Men franchise for 17 years across nine films. With Wolverine’s addition to the MCU, Marvel inches closer and closer to finally introducing the X-Men into the universe —a development that has long been hoped for by fans. Reynolds and Jackman announced the character’s return in a Twitter video, where they assured fans that Deadpool 3 will be totally separate from the events of the future-set Logan, in which Wolverine died.

In the season finale of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) embraces the shield, taking up the mantle of Captain America to defeat the Flag-Smashers. Next, Mackie continues the Captain America franchise with its fourth installment, this one to be directed by Julius Onah. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier head writer Malcolm Spellman will pen the script with Dalan Musson, a staff writer on the Disney+ Marvel series.

Returning cast members include Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley and Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres, along with Tim Blake Nelson as antagonist Dr. Samuel Sterns, or The Leader, who will be reprising his role from 2008’s The Incredible Hulk. Harrison Ford will be joining the cast as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, a role previously played by the late William Hurt. The film will also introduce Israeli hero Sabra (Shira Haas).

Previously, the film was titled New World Order, which, in the comics, refers to the name of a villainous organization lead by the Red Skull, a character who was last seen in the MCU guarding the Soul Stone on Vormir in Avengers: Endgame. Hugo Weaving played the part in Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), while Ross Marquand took over starting with Avengers: Infinity War (2018).

Everyone’s favorite neighbor is back — except this time, audiences will find out what she’s been up to since the end of Wandavision. In the show’s season finale, Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) cast a spell on Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) turning her back into nosy neighbor Agnes, trapping her in Westview under the Scarlet Witch’s mind control. While it’s safe to assume that Agatha ultimately breaks free of the spell, little else is known about what exactly the plot will entail. Emma Caulfield will also reprise her role as Dottie, a resident of Westview that was previously under Wanda’s control.

The bad guys are teaming up. Set to be directed by Jake Schreier, Thunderbolts will create a new super team — one slightly more rough around the edges than the Avengers.

“It tells you a lot about the team when beloved Winter Soldier is the most stable among them,” Marvel boss Kevin Feige said about the film at D23 Expo in September 2022.

Officially confirmed at D23, the cast will feature several MCU returners include Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as The Winter Soldier, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as US Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra De Fontaine.

  • ‘Blade’

    February 14, 2025

Mahershala Ali joins the MCU as Blade, the vampire-hunting vigilante. The reboot of the 1998 Blade franchise (in which Wesley Snipes played the titular role) was delayed to a 2024 release date, after losing its director Bassam Tariq. Production will hold off while the project searches for its next helmer.

Ali made his MCU debut in a post-credits scene of Eternals, in which Dane Whitman (Kit Harington) uncovers a weapon called Ebony Blade. As Dane prepares to pick up the blade, he’s interrupted by a mysterious voice — who happens to sound very much like Ali — that asks “Sure you’re ready for that, Mr. Whitman?”

From this interaction, there is speculation that Harington could appear in the Blade film. Aaron Pierre and Delroy Lindo are attached to star alongside Ali.

  • ‘Fantastic Four’

Every Upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe Movie and TV Show (9)

    May 2, 2025

Phase 6 will kick off with the spotlight on the Fantastic Four. After years of MCU fan theories surrounding the casting of John Krasinski as the Fantastic Four’s Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Marvel finally answered the call with Krasinksi’s brief cameo as a multiverse version of the character in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Krasinski’s Mr. Fantastic was murdered on-screen by Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) in the film and no cast has been set for the feature.

Wandavision alum Matt Shakman is set to direct, taking over for Spider-Man: Homecoming, Far From Home and No Way Home director Jon Watts, who initially was attached. While little is known about the film’s narrative, Feige has stated it won’t be an origin story.

  • ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’

Every Upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe Movie and TV Show (10)

    May 1, 2026

When Avengers: The Kang Dynasty hits theaters, it will have been over six years since Avengers: Endgame concluded Phase 3 of the MCU. The film was announced at Comic-Con in 2022, with Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton set to direct. With several films, shows and years to go until the Avengers assemble once more, it’s safe to assume from the title that the film will revolve around Kang the Conqueror’s (Jonathan Majors) quest to take over the multiverse. After seeing Earth’s Mightiest Heroes defeat heavy hitter Thanos (Josh Brolin) in the previous Avengers films, Marvel will likely be looking to up the ante in The Kang Dynasty, as multiverses and Quantum Realms come fully into play.

  • ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’

    May 7, 2027

Avengers: Secret Wars marks the culmination of the MCU’s Multiverse Saga. With Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness writer Michael Waldron tapped to pen the film’s script, Secret Wars will mark the MCU’s sixth Avengers film. There have been multiple comic book runs featuring the name Secret Wars, with the most recent published in 2015 from writer Jonathan Hickman.

  • ‘Ironheart’

Every Upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe Movie and TV Show (12)

    TBD

Audiences met young genius-inventor Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, before she headlines her own Disney+ series. With her intellect and knack for building things — not to mention attending MIT — Riri could give Tony Stark a run for his money, as she dons a suit of her own making that closely resembles the Iron Man suit. Created by Chinaka Hodge, the series will also introduce Parker Robbins, or The Hood (Anthony Ramos), who wears a magical hood that allows him to tap into dark mystic powers.

  • ‘Daredevil: Born Again’

Every Upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe Movie and TV Show (13)

    TBD

Charlie Cox’s Daredevil makes his return to the MCU with Daredevil: Born Again, reprising his role as blind lawyer by day and masked vigilante by night Matt Murdock. The character quickly became a fan-favorite after three seasons of Daredevil, previously released by Netflix, until the show was abruptly canceled as Marvel and the streaming service wound down their relationship

In recent years, Cox has made cameos as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home, along with work in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, where he appeared in the Daredevil suit for the first time since 2018. While little is known about what storylines Born Again will explore, it’s set to begin production mid-2023. The title itself references the comic of the same name, while also perhaps paying homage to the character’s return to the MCU.
